Tram Concession Manager
We are currently recruiting a Tram Concession Manager to lead and manage the team responsible for the delivery of the tram concession, and to support the development and delivery of plans in relation to the tram assets and future operating model.
Ideally you will have a good knowledge of the light and/or heavy rail industry, along with awareness of relevant legislation and its application, with a proven background in the management of operational plans for a transport operator.
Working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders you will work collaboratively to ensure operational requirements are incorporated into the design of major projects.
You should be a strong leader as well as highly motivated, innovative and creative thinker, with the ability to meet and embrace changing circumstances and demands, you will also need to demonstrate you are a credible communicator with well developed negotiating and relationship management skills. You will also possess the skills to lead and motivate the existing tram team.

Bus Partnership & Development Officer
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our Bus Services team where you will play a part in the development of a sustainable, customer driven bus network for our region. The role will be responsible for monitoring commercial and contracted Bus services across the South Yorkshire region. Working in collaboration to identify and investigate opportunities to deliver an enhanced integrated transport network that serves to support growth through improving customer satisfaction, driver standards, vehicles standards and bus performance.
The role will support the Bus Partnership & Development Manager to help position the South Yorkshire region as a great place to live, work and invest, across a variety of platforms.
You will be enthusiastic and have good stakeholder and project management skills. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communicator and problem-solving skills.
A good team player who can support, contribute and actively participate across the team, have strong attention to detail and the drive to deliver work of high quality and accuracy, including the review of complex data to reach conclusions that will support the recommendations over the future of the region’s public transport network.

Senior Development Manager (Skills)
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and driven Individual to help shape the future of adult education, employability and skills development for the South Yorkshire region.
With a devolved budget to be prioritised and allocated across approved providers SYMCA will ensure that we develop individuals with the right skills and knowledge to meet the employment needs of the area for now and the future.
We are looking for a pro active, self starting individual to take forward our commissioning of devolved Adult Education Budget funded provision.
We are looking for an team player, who can analyse diverse information in relation to learners, skills trends and providers and use their knowledge of skills to make recommendations to shape, develop and implement policies that will underpin our employability and skills approach and contribute to our future vision.
The role would be suitable for those with a thorough knowledge of adult skills funding, along with a solid understanding of qualifications and funding strategies and programmes.
The successful candidate will also bring experience of working within a complex environment with multiple stakeholders. This will be a challenging position, you will be expected to bring an energetic, creative and ‘can do’ approach to the role.

Contracts Manager
We are seeking a Contracts Manager who will be responsible providing contracts expertise and support throughout the contract life cycle, delivering high quality commercial contract management, especially in relation to construction works or public transport service contracts . The role will include direct contract management of complex, high risk, high value contracts, and business partnering support to teams across the organisation to enable them to effectively manage their contract portfolios. Supporting the Head of Contracts and working closely with the wider Procurement, Contracts and Programme Controls team, Legal and Finance to implement a new model for contract management across the MCA whilst also ensuring that contractual and commercial risk profile is managed to an appropriate level.
With excellent organisational skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail you will have the ability to communicate with external and internal stakeholders demonstrating a prompt, constructive solution for stakeholders on all matters pertaining to contract management, strategy, operating standards, best practices, and standards relating to laws and regulations.

Programme Controls Officer
We are seeking a Programme Controls Officer who will be responsible for supporting the grant management and performance reporting across the SYMCA. With excellent administrative and organisation skills you will need to be self-motivated, with the ability to pay close attention to detail, and have the drive to complete competing tasks to a high standard alongside strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across a range of stakeholders. Experience of developing and managing grant agreement terms and conditions is essential to the role, as is the knowledge and understanding of the principles relating to financial management, performance management and reporting.

Head of Customer Service
SYMCA is looking for an experienced professional who will be responsible for end-to-end development and delivery of our customer-centric strategies and driving tactics to deliver improvements in our public transport network. This role will play a key role in putting the customer at the centre/heart of your decision making and looking to always improve the customer offer and experience.
You will have a proven track record of leadership across a customer service, account management, or sales team, and experience in managing complex negotiations involving commercial and operational matters, as well as being experienced in building strong customer relationships and efficiently communicating internal and external voices and in successful partnership working with multi-agencies and stakeholders. You will lead change in the delivery of new solutions or enhanced service levels to the business and be responsible for manging customer feedback specifically complaints within a regulated environment.
You will have a strong commercial acumen, with the ability to liaise with key stakeholders and drive forward and manage performance which will lead to increased participation, cultural impacts, and strategic business growth. Excellent communication, and influencing skills, with an ability to build strong relationships, including with senior stakeholders.

Senior Political Advisor
The MCA is seeking to appoint a Senior Political Advisor to join the team supporting the Mayor in progressing his agenda and priorities, building influential relationships with the full range of partners in the MCA family and sector stakeholders beyond, both regionally and nationally.
The post holder will be a team player providing political advice and support to the Mayor, assisting with the development of his initiatives, and representing the Mayor with key partners and stakeholders, including some political meetings.
The successful candidate must be both politically experienced and highly motivated, a pragmatic solutions-orientated creative thinker, persuasive and with the ability to meet and embrace changing circumstances and demands, manage relationships and broker solutions.
We require someone who can offer a proven track record of:
- engaging effectively with politicians, officers, business leaders and other sector stakeholders
- shaping, influencing and brokering decisions and policy outcomes
- communicating and in particular writing attractively and effectively – with a proven aptitude for writing briefings, articles, letters and speaking notes
- operating in a complex political environment

Procurement Officer
Are you a strong, highly organised officer who would enjoy the challenge of providing a comprehensive and efficient operational support service to the Procurement, Contracts and Programme Controls team within South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority?
We are seeking a Procurement Officer who will assist with the procurement management for large contracts and procurement, required by the Mayoral Combined Authority’s procurement framework. The post holder will ensure compliance with procedures and process across the organisation through provision of advice and guidance to officers throughout the organisation, enabling them to achieve best value for money.
In this role, you will use and build strong skills in communication in producing quality documentation including tender documentation, Able to demonstrate ability to work on own initiative with flexibility and adaptability as well as being an excellent team player and being capable of working collaboratively on presentations and reports ensuring they are suitable for a wide range of different audiences . A key part of this role will be working collaboratively with all colleagues across the organisation and supporting them to procure a range of goods and services as required.
You will be adept at efficiently managing time and competing priorities. You will also have experience of drafting and implementing operational processes and procedures (including tendering documents).
You will also have excellent personal and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) and be able to engage with stakeholders at all levels across the Mayoral Combined Authority.

Procurement Manager
We are seeking a Procurement Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of the organisation’s procurement strategy, through the development of effective internal processes that support and maximise efficiency and productivity. You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management for the procurement activity, ensuring compliance with procedures and process across the organisation through provision of advice and guidance to officers throughout the organisation, enabling them to achieve best value for money.
In this role, you will focus on improvement of relations with existing suppliers while finding and vetting new suppliers who can meet our needs more efficiently and assist the growth of the organisation, you will need to demonstrate ability to work on own initiative with flexibility and adaptability as well as being an excellent team leader and mentor, capable of working collaboratively, as a key part of this role will be working collaboratively with all colleagues across the organisation and supporting them to procure a range of goods and services.
You will be a strong negotiator with suppliers, able to demonstrate strong experience of delivering measurable costs savings through successful supply chain management, along with good end to end procurement knowledge gained in the public or private sector.

Mayor’s Correspondence Officer
We are currently recruiting for a Mayor's Correspondence Officer.
This is an exciting and important time to be part of the team working directly with the Mayor to support the delivery of the Mayor’s and the Mayoral Combined Authority’s priorities. The post holder will have a key role to play in the smooth running of the team through ensuring that correspondence is dealt with in a swift and timely manner.
The successful candidate will need to be assertive and confident with the ability to prioritise a busy workload. We are recruiting for a Senior Development Manager (Housing) in our Housing, Infrastructure and Planning team.
We are seeking a dynamic manager with strong experience, expertise and knowledge of current housing issues and policy development, along with excellent knowledge of the stakeholders and relationships that will be essential in the development of housing across the South Yorkshire region.
