We are seeking to appoint a self motivated Appraisal Officer who will provide programme and project appraisal advice to SYMCA and its partners to support the development of schemes and bids; analyse quantitative and qualitative evidence to help prioritise and sequence projects and schemes, agree investment priorities and inform the preparation of business cases. The role will also support in the assurance of transport programmes and projects, ensuring the value for money is objectively estimated and options and risks are suitably judged.
In the role you will provide forecasting, appraisal, and assurance advice to support the development of projects and investment in South Yorkshire. We are seeking a Head of Public Transport Operations (HoPTO) who will have responsibility for overseeing the delivery of operational performance for the three modes of public transport in South Yorkshire: bus, tram and rail. In recent years significant funding has been secured through the Transforming Cities Fund and a devolution deal, and work is ongoing to develop a Bus Improvement Plan in response to the government’s National Bus Strategy that will bring further funding for public transport across the region. As result we have a large and growing capital programme to deliver in support of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority Mayor’s 2040 vision for transport.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate proven experience of assisting in the project management of large capital projects and/or leading smaller capital projects. We are currently recruiting a Asset Performance Engineer (Light Rail) to join our Tram Concession team, working with the Light Rail Engineering Manager, the role will provide operational and strategic delivery of the Supertram asset management. We are looking for suitably qualified individual to support the implementation of SYMCA’s strategic Asset Management Plan as well as undertaking analysis of data to support and identify trends and potential future maintenance interventions. Ideally from an engineering background your key duties will include surveying and monitoring assets out in the field and compiling and producing asset inspection reports to help plan and deliver an area based capital improvement programme. The role requires you to have knowledge and experience of light to heavy rail engineering, along with strong analytical, interpretation and reporting skills, working with various stakeholder as well as prioritising own workload.
This role is suited to a technical person with a passion for working with the environment in order to make a difference to the lives of people in South Yorkshire.

We are seeking a Programme Controls Manager who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects and a small team of officers across the MCA’s grant funded programmes preferably within the Transport thematic area.
