MAYORAL COMBINED AUTHORITY NAME AND BRAND CHANGE

Published 10 June 2021 at 9:07am

On Monday 7 June 2021, the MCA Board agreed to rebrand and change the legal name of the organisation to the ‘South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority’. The Mayor’s title will change to become ‘Mayor of South Yorkshire’. Read the MCA Board Rebranding paper on our Committees and Meetings website.

The change is being made to reflect the decision-making geography of the MCA and LEP and to better reflect the identification people, places and businesses have with South Yorkshire as a region. It also coincides with the integration of the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) with the MCA. Read the Integration paper (PDF, 254kb) on the Committees and Meetings website.

There will be no immediate change to the MCA and SYPTE’s brand. The new identity will be applied and rolled out in phases, with some of the first changes made by the end of July ahead of the next MCA Board meeting.

The wider suite of MCA brands, such as the Growth Hub, Skills Bank and SCR Invest will also remain unchanged until a wider review of sub brands has taken place.
