SOUTH YORKSHIRE MAYOR VISITS OUR COW MOLLY TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR BRITISH FARMING

South Yorkshire Mayor and Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis met with the National Farmers Union on a visit to Our Cow Molly in Dungworth.

Commenting Dan Jarvis, who has a very long-standing personal interest in farming said:

“British farming is the bedrock of our food manufacturing sector. We have incredible farms here in South Yorkshire and it was great to visit Our Cow Molly and meet with the National Farmers Union.

“The team at Our Cow Molly do fantastic work, educating school children in their onsite classroom, supplying fresh milk to businesses and homes locally, as well as working closely with Sheffield University to facilitate a new research project.

“They are a prime example of how innovation and entrepreneurship is an important part of the farming industry. Alongside operating the farm 24 hours per day, they also put a huge amount of effort into creatively marketing their products and finding new ways to reduce their plastic waste.

“I know how challenging labour shortages across the sector have been for British farms. Soaring food prices and gaps on the supermarket shelves are a stark reminder of the importance of a strong local farming sector and access to good quality British produce.

“It is vital that we recognise and celebrate the enormous contribution our farmers make to food production, the environment and the rural economy.”

Eddie Andrews, owner of Our Cow Molly said:

“It was great to welcome the Mayor to Our Cow Molly and show him the work myself and my team do all year round to supply milk produced in Sheffield.

“Following the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Future research, we are striving towards producing and processing milk without using fossil fuels. Looking to the future we hope to install an anaerobic digester which will provide energy to power the farm.”
