MAYOR RESPONDS TO FURTHER EASING OF LOCKDOWN MEASURES

In response to the further easing of lockdown measures in England, Dan Jarvis, Mayor of the Sheffield City Region, said: “As the easing of lockdown continues with gyms, beauticians and outdoor theatres set to reopen in the coming days and weeks, I want to remind people in South Yorkshire that the threat of the Coronavirus has not gone away.
“Now more than ever we must all remain vigilant. As more people return to work, shops and public spaces, following the guidance on social distancing is more – not less – important. People must wear face coverings on public transport, in indoor spaces, and anywhere that you cannot maintain distance from others. Everybody should also continue to regularly wash their hands. I would urge anyone who is displaying symptoms of Coronavirus to immediately self-isolate and get a test.
“Only by continuing to work together and adhering to the guidance issued by Public Health England will we beat this virus.”
Guidance from Public Health England on how to slow the spread of the virus:
- Try to stay at least 2 metres (3 steps) away from anyone you do not live with (or anyone not in your support bubble).
- Wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds.
- Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
- Wash your hands as soon as you get home.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
- Put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.
- Work from home where possible.
- Wear face coverings when travelling on public transport, in indoor spaces and in crowded spaces.
