MAYOR URGES BUS OPERATORS TO RECONSIDER SERVICE CUTS

South Yorkshire Mayor Dan Jarvis has written to the Managing Director of First Bus and the CEO of Stagecoach, asking both operators to reconsider planned service cuts.

In the letters, the Mayor calls for the operators to meet with him to discuss current issues with bus services in South Yorkshire, rather than opting to scale back services and potentially lock in damage to passengers numbers caused by the pandemic.

Dan Jarvis said: "Our buses are under exceptional pressure. In the face of this challenge it is critical that we act for the long-term, following a deliberate plan to minimise the damage caused by Covid and protect the network so we can not only build back but deliver the transformation of our services that our region so badly need."
