DSA: STATEMENT FROM THE SOUTH YORKSHIRE LOCAL ENTERPRISE PARTNERSHIP

Lucy Nickson, Interim Chair of the South Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “Doncaster Sheffield Airport is a crucial part of South Yorkshire’s future as a thriving, super-connected and international economy. 
 
“Our region is home to major specialisms. We make things go faster, cleaner and greener with global strengths in future technologies, modern manufacturing, fusion and green hydrogen. 
 
“Our international airport supports thousands of high-quality jobs, attracts business investment, supports global trade, and connects our region and businesses with markets around the world. 

“The Local Enterprise Partnership, the Mayoral Combined Authority, and our local authorities have long recognised the airport’s importance and massive potential - that’s why we’ve invested in the site and surrounding areas. 

“We have worked with government on plans to connect the airport to the East Coast Mainline and want to extend the tram-train network to the airport. 

“Business groups across the region are stepping up and making their voice heard. We call on the Peel Group to work with our Mayor, the Government and partners to find a resolution.”
