The key towns and core city of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority region are undergoing a private sector led urban renaissance. The SYMCA uses its available capital funding to help unlock private sector investment, including transport connectivity.

The Peak Resort project, close to the Peak District National Park, will be a year-round tourist, leisure and education destination. It encourages higher value visits to the Peak District by providing a range of accommodation, plus all-weather activities. LGF funding facilitated initial site infrastructure works, including new access roundabout, new access, footpath and bridleway diversions and a secure boundary.

This project, which has completed, includes a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.

This investment is expected to deliver 406 jobs.
