Rotherham Town Centre Masterplan

ROTHERHAM TOWN CENTRE MASTERPLAN

Published 20 August 2021 at 3:32pm

The project will contribute towards the regeneration of Rotherham town centre, to prepare land for commercial development, undertake public realm improvements and create new community spaces.

Works will include the acquisition & demolition of the former HE Hub to make way for the new Community Sector Hub building, and the acquisition and demolition of the Riverside Precinct in order to prepare the site for future development. There will also be improvements made to key streets in the heart of the town centre, including the complete resurfacing of Bridgegate, Effingham Street, College Street and Howard Street, and the replacement of existing street furniture and lighting.

Public realm works will improve accessibility around the town centre. The future development of the Community Sector Hub will provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ service for social and community support provision for the local population, and the new Forge Island development will act as a catalyst for the regeneration and repurposing of Rotherham town centre.

SYMCA GBF allocation: £2,180,000
Total project cost: £4,052,425
