Building Digital UK carried out an Open Market Review in South Yorkshire to help identify premises that may be suitable for future public funding for gigabit-capable broadband.

More than 100,000 homes and businesses in South Yorkshire can now order faster, better broadband thanks to multi-million investment through the Superfast South Yorkshire programme. The partnership, between the four South Yorkshire local authorities, UK Government and Openreach, has invested more than £35 million so far to bring superfast and full fibre broadband to thousands of communities across South Yorkshire.

South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) Digital Infrastructure Strategy (DIS) was launched, one of three key areas in addressing the digital agenda across the region. The other areas are ‘digital skills’ and digital ‘innovation and business support.’
