STRATEGIC TESTING TOOLS

To ensure that investment in our transport system is based on the best possible evidence we have invested resources in ensuring the modelling data and tools we have in place are fit for purpose. This investment developed and utilises the tools to allow all transport projects over £5m to be appraised according to Department for Transport (DfT) requirements. It also allows all infrastructure, housing and transport schemes be tested using a tool that forecasts transport, land use and economic impacts (FLUTE). 

This project, which has completed, includes a contribution from the Government’s Local Growth Fund resources which is part of the Government’s continued investment in the Northern Powerhouse.
